Ronald Bangert Obituary

Ronald "Ron" Bangert, age 83, of Waterford passed away, after a long illness, on February 16, 2012 at Season's Hospice in Waukesha. He was born to Robert and Lillian (nee Kristensen) Bangert on July 24, 1928 in Chicago, IL. His early life was spent in Berwyn, IL. Ron was in the Army from 1946 through 1948 as a Military Policeman, stationed at Fort Knox Kentucky. On April 7, 1951 he was united in marriage to Gladys May Jones in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. They resided in Chicago and Berwyn where he worked at Lion Match Corporation for 43 years. Upon retiring 22 years ago, they moved to Wisconsin. Ron was a member of the Congo Men's' Club in Berwyn and a member of the Berwyn Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed golfing and watching sports especially amateur sports. He was a talented woodworker making everything from cabinets to small bird figures. Ron enjoyed playing cards mainly pinochle and challenging crossword puzzles which he did in ink. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Gladys; a son, Ronald (Marylyn) Bangert Jr.; and a daughter, Audrey (John) Schanning; a granddaughter, Sheri Schanning; and a great-grandson, Cain Aulich. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Robert and Harold; and 1 sister, Carol. Memorials can be made to the Salvation Army of Racine in honor of Ron. Ron's family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of Season's Hospice for all their care and compassion in caring for Ron throughout his illness. Private inurnment will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
