Robert Stewart Obituary

Robert W. "Stu" Stewart, 85, a longtime resident of West Chicago, IL, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2008. He was born August 27, 1923 in Monmouth, IL and raised in Long Point, IL. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a member and past commander of the West Chicago American Legion. He was a past fire chief of West Chicago during the 1960's, former president of the fire department trustee board, and a member of the West Chicago Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife, Betty Mills nee Miller, of 18 years; his five children, William (Ruth), Jim (Kathleen), Chuck (Kathy), Patricia Stewart Lewis Carlson, Carol (Tony) Cummings; his step-children, Dianne (Chuck) Arwood, Rick (Nancy) Mills, Carolyn (Patrick) Spohn, and Dolores Carlan; twenty four grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; his sister, Esther Ricketts; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Jean "BJ" Stewart nee Beutke, of forty years; his two grandsons, Thomas Scott Lewis and Daniel James Lewis; and his brother, Leonard Stewart. Visitation, Friday 9/12, from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Williams-Woodward Funeral home, 820 Pine St., West Chicago, IL (Rt. 59 & Pine Sts.) Visitation Saturday, 9/13, from 12:30 p.m. until time of service, 1:00 p.m. at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, 307 Cedar Ave., St. Charles, IL. Interment Union Cemetery, St. Charles.
