I was saddened to learn of Bob's passing. It was good to come here and see the smile on his face. My condolence to his family. I have many fond memories from High School with Bob and Nancy. Nancy, you two were soul mates. Prayers are with you.

I have serviced machines for Del West for about 10 years. RJ was always the kindest, most easy going of guys to work with, real class. We both loved cars and racing and he often had something going, with his Corvette, or autocrossing. It turns out we are the same age, so hearing of his passing is a real shock. I'm going to miss him greatly. I send my deepest condolences.

Dear Soukups,

Let me be the last Hossfeld to add my condolences for your loss. I guess we all are too old to know him as "RJ" - we remember him as Bob. I remember Bob making my Dad laugh and how impressed Dad always was with Bob's mechanical ability.
my deepest sympathies.

Dear Nancy, Cathy, and Mr. & Mrs. Soukup:

Learning the news of my childhood friend Bob's passing from our fellow classmates Joe Bowe and Jean Kovac Jones meant a good chapter of my personal book of life ended much too soon.

Bob and I were born on the same day in 1956, perfect timing to enable our fun together growing up including family visits at the Soukup homes in DG.

His St. Joseph friends will hold him always in the highest regard, prayed for him when his name was noted at all parish Masses last weekend, and hope one day we can reunite with him in the peace of mutual eternal reward.

My sincere condolences and may God bless and comfort to you all.

So very sorry to hear about Bob. I still remember him chasing me around the yard having water fights. He always lost because I would play the "I'm a girl" card and he would take pity on me. I echo my brother's sentiments that he always had a smile on his face. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Linda Hanley (Hossfeld)

We miss our old neighbors, and share their fond thoughts of Bob

Dear Pat, Joe, and Nancy- My sister, Nancy Cuzman, told me that Bob has died. I'm so sorry to hear it. Bob was a wonderful guy. I know he, like all of you, helped my folks so often and we have all been grateful for the friendship over the years. I can't imagine Bob without a smile, and bet he still has one. I figure it took him only a few minutes with St Pete before he had taken apart the pearly gates, turbocharged them, and got them working even better than before- the most mechanically adept person I have ever met! I wish your family the comfort that comes from many friends sharing your love for him.

Dear Pat and Joe,

We were so sorry to read about Bob’s passing in the Downers Grove Reporter. We remember Bob with fond memories during the time that we spent being neighbors with you on Chicago Avenue many years ago. Please accept our deepest sympathy at this difficult time.

Nancy,I was shocked and sad when I heard about RJ. He was a guy that you became friends with from the moment you met and never forgot.

I can remember him standing there in his snapdown shirt bluejeans and velcro tennis shoes (with balck socks!) stroking his beard while pondering some problem on one of our cars. Then laughing his head off when we came up with some absurd solution.

Not to mention the L&F Pizza to clean our hands with when the project was done!

Even though I got to visit with cousin Bobby on rare occasions, he was a person I looked up to and was always excited to see. I remember a warm and kind man with nothing but big smiles on his face.

We extend our deepest sympathy and love to Cathy, Nancy, Aunt Pat and Uncle Joe. If there's anything we can do at all, please don't hesitate to ask.

Bobby was a lover of life. I never saw him do anything he didn't seem to enjoy.
When I was a kid I used to love hanging out with my "oldest cousin." I was probably was a huge pest but he would always pull out his accordion or play something on the organ if I asked. Years later when I returned to Illinois for college he became a buddy. We painted my 240z in his garage...in the middle of the night. He would do more than give you the shirt off his back. When my car wasn't ready to race he let me race his. Sharing pizzas, root beer, boat rides and time with Bobby was always a pleasure.
What a great guy who will be missed so much by so many.
Our Thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Nancy, Cathy, Aunt Pat, Uncle Joe and all who knew and loved him.

I am still in denial. I am honored to have known RJ. He was always the one who was ready to go and do and make others happy. I can't help but believe that there is a Rainbow Bridge for people and RJ will be waiting there for us.

So grateful to get to see RJ one more time when he came to Texas last month. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nancy, and his friends and family. Tom & Susan Fulmer

I always looked up to RJ (or Bobby as we cousins used to call him). He had a wit and demeanor that made you want to hang out with him.

I remember the time as kids we were building model rockets together and decided to launch an engine all by itself. It was a doomed experiment that had us running away in all directions as fast as we could. We were glad Aunt Pat did not see it happen!

I remember that at one time, Bobby's favorite expression was "groovy", so of course, it became my favorite expression. Those were the days. Seems light years ago.

Our condolences to Nancy, her family, Cathy, Aunt Pat, and Uncle Joe. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I expect that Bobby is now fixing boat motors for God up in heaven. Look for him out sailing across the sky on sunny days.
