Robert L. MORRISON, Jr. Bob Morrison of Poulsbo, WA, died at Harrison Hospital, Bremerton, WA January 14, 2008, following a courageous 7-month battle with acute leukemia. Bob was born in Seattle January 31, 1948. The family moved to Wenatchee and as a child Bob was active in Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball, making the all-star team as a catcher. Following the sudden and untimely death of his father in 1962, the Morrison family moved to Cashmere to join with the Wilson family in 1963. At Cashmere High, Bob participated in several sports and was elected student body president in his senior year. Bob attended the University of Washington and acquired a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and licensed civil/structural. In 1981 Bob and two friends purchased the infamous Blue Moon Tavern, which he owned until 2003. He married in 1985 and opened a civil/structural engineering practice in 1990. He and his wife moved to Poulsbo in 1995. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Morrison, Sr. and step-father, Jack Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Vivian, step-daughter, Lila Sacksteder (Brian) and three grandchildren; his mother, Marilyn Wilson of Cashmere; brothers, Brent (Kathie), Jon (Patti), Mike (Denise) and Jeff (Kim) and their families; step-siblings, Tom, Sarah and Chris Wilson. Bob was my closest early childhood friend (and I think I his) and our families were very close. Between the Morrison family, the Bulmer family and another family in the neighborhood there were some 12 to 14 children (depending upon who had just had a baby) – we had incredible family Thanksgivings where every single person would end up around the table, usually large sheets of plywood in a garage and at Christmas there was a Piñata Party with a mad scramble once the Piñata was broken. The Piñata Party is such a positive and strong memory that when my wife and I had children we started the same thing with our close friends – we just had the 23rd party. As is the nature of things, when Bob moved to Cashmere we saw each other much less but we got together through college and after – he recruited me to work for a city wide monorail system sometime in the late 70’s I think. I find that I often think back on he and his family. I am very sorry for his passing and from all of my family, including all of my sisters who also have very fond memories; I extend our condolences to his mother, his brothers and his family.

We remember great times with Bob and Vivian. Bob always wore a smile and had great stories that he told with gusto! We are grateful for the warm friendship we shared with Bob and shall continue with Vivian. Bob, we will miss your warm, hearty laughter!

Where do you start? Bob was the structural engineer on several of my commercial and residential projects over the course of 15 years. I chose to work with Bob because of his sensible and knowledgeable approach to design, his intellectual curiosity, and because I knew that my clients were well-served when Bob was on the team.
Doing business with Bob was personal, and through the years he shared his joy with the work he had on his desk, his property (his trips to the emergency room), and his family.
With Bob it was always a pleasure doing business with him. He will be missed!

Bob was always the Engieer, and more importantly a friend, that I could always count on. When he convinced me to join in the "Save the Moon" committee it provided an opportunity to really appreciate him. He will always be a part of what I am both personally and professionally.

My condolences to Bob's family and friends. I've had the pleasure of knowing Bob since the mid eighties when we worked together at Lee Johnson Consultants. He was a great mentor to me at the start of my engineering career. We continued to work together on various projects, most recently with Bob serving as a consultant on several of my projects at the City of Everett.
I will greatly miss Bob's sense of humor. I always enjoyed our discussions whether engineering related, or more likely, just topics of mutual interest. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I am sorry to read about Bob's passing. I worked with him at Lee Johnson Consultants in the mid 1980's and will always remember him as good humored and one of the nicest people I'd ever had the pleasure of working with.
