Robert J. Moravecek, of Westchester formerly 75 years of Cicero, passed away on April 6, 2015. Robert was born May 17, 1926, to Joseph J. and Marie nee Linhart Moravecek and was the devoted husband for 65 years and 11 months of Ida nee Vieceli; loving father of Robert J. (Judith), Louis (Christine), Lawrence, John (Gayle), David (Gosha), Richard (JoAnn) and Mary Cerasi Moravecek; dearest grandfather of Brian, Jennifer, Louis, Steven, Mark, Caitlyn, Laura, Klaudia, Izabela, Lauren, Kristina, Richard and Frank; dear great grandpa of Cody, T.J., Konrad, Kornelia, Chloe and Leah; fond brother of the late Mary (late Joseph) Kolar and the late Joseph J. (Loretta) Moravecek' brother in law of Louis (Joan) Vieceli and the late Joseph (Genevieve), late Lawrence (late Josephine) and late Mary (late Walter) Borlick; special Uncle Bob to many.

Robert was a graduate of Mary Queen of Heaven School, Cicero, St. Thomas Military School, St. Paul, MN, Columbia College and Worsham School of Mortuary Sciences, holding a State of Illinois Funeral Director License for 66 years and proud third generation owner of Moravecek Funeral Homes for over forty years. Bob was an Army Veteran of WW II in the 612th Tank Destroyer Battalion.

He was very active in many Fraternal and Civic organizations holding office and serving on many committees his roles were Past Grand Knight and 4th Degree member Cardinal Council 1691 Knights of Columbus (70 years), an active Lector, Usher, Finance leader and Past President of the Holy Name Society at Mary Queen of Heaven Church, Past President of Jaeger Club our Lady of the Mount Church, an Officer with the Reiger Club, Past President Kiwanis Club Cicero and Lt. Governor Kiwanis Club, Illinois, Member of St. Ann Lodge Czech Catholic Union, Past Quarter Master V.F.W. and American Legion, Cicero Post 96, Charter member of Catholic Funeral Directors, Bohemian Funeral Directors Assn., Chicago Funeral Directors, F.D.S.A. and Illinois Funerals Directors Assn., former Town of Cicero Special Reserves Police Officer, Precinct Captain, Election Judge and Past Secretary of Cicero School District 99 and proud longtime Board Member and recently awarded Honorary Lifetime Member of United Way of Cicero. Bob spent two summers on stage at the Belfry Theater in Delavan and was a radio actor for C.B.S. radio in Chicago.

Visitation Friday, April 10, 2015, starting at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 11, 8:30 a.m. till time of services at 9:15 a.m. at the Moravecek/Ivins Funeral Home 80 E. Burlington St. Riverside to Divine Providence Church, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
