Robert Michalek Obituary

Robert Michalek, 83, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away on May 30, 2010, after battling a long fight with cancer. Formerly of Brookfield, Illinois, his family moved to the Florida area in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris; daughter, Karen; son, Kevin and his wife, Anissa; two granddaughters, Shana and Mariana; and several family members. He arrived in America with his family at the age of 3 from Czech Republic and settled in the Chicago area. He attended Farragut High School and then was enlisted in the armed forces. Afterwards, he continued into to the art field and became a commercial artist. Upon moving to Brookfield, he became involved in Sokol for over 35 years. He devoted his time and services to that organization to make it a better place. He volunteered in many clubs and programs in the community. In Florida, he enjoyed entertaining, traveling and a good laugh. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
