Robert Michalek Obituary

Robert J. "Bob" Michalek Jr., died on August 3, 2012 in the Downers Grove home he shared with his wife of 33 years, Lauren A. Mottel Michalek. Bob and Lauren had moved into the house 28 years ago and have filled it with lasting memories including raising their two daughters and more recently becoming grandparents. Bob was a man who loved the great outdoors - from fishing and camping to tending to his gardens. He had a passion for literature, having read thousands of books over his lifetime with his favorite topics including Antarctica, space travel and cars. Bob also had an ear for music, teaching himself to play the guitar. But he was most comfortable with a cup of coffee in hand in his workshop where he could fix or build just about anything. Over the course of his 59 years, he truly enjoyed life for its simple pleasures. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his daughters Kathryn (Ryan) Gaspar and Stephanie Michalek, his grandchildren Trevor and Adelaide Gaspar, as well as his sister, Martha Michalek. Memorial Visitation, Friday 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorial Service Saturday 10 a.m. at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main St. (1 blk S. of Ogden) Downers Grove. Interment Private.
