Robert Holland Obituary

Robert B. "Bob" Holland, Jr, 69, was welcomed into Heaven's exclusive Golf and Country Club on July 1st, 2009. He was in his 13th year as Sr. Vice President of Quail Creek Bank. Born Oct. 24, 1939 in Ponca City, OK, he attended school in Newkirk and moved to Moore, where he graduated in 1958. He received his B.A. from Oklahoma University in 1964 and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After serving in the Oklahoma Air National Guard, Bob began his 40-year banking career working as a teller for Morrison Tucker at Fidelity Bank. He later joined his father at the family-owned First National Bank of Moore. After the sale of FNB of Moore, he became Vice President at First National Bank of OKC, First National of Bethany, First National of Tulsa, and First National of Midwest City. He was involved in many civic and business activities and was recognized as an Outstanding Young Man of America in 1968. He was previously a Director and Chairman of the Board of Albright Title and Trust in Newkirk, Director of a "Chance to Change," and Chairman of the OBA Lending School. He was currently a member of the State Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Small Business Council, and was on the Board of Directors. Both Governors Keating and Henry appointed him to the Bond Oversight Commission, where he later became the Chairman. Recently, he was appointed by Governor Henry to the "Commission of Consumer Credit" and was serving as Vice-Chairman. Bob was also currently a director of the T.H. Rodgers Lumber Co. On 8/24/74, he married Vicki Blackstock, and they later had 2 children. Bob was an avid golfer and cherished his family, his bank family, and the many friends he made, both at work and especially at the golf course he loved so much, Twin Hills. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Margaret Carter and Lynn Akers. He is survived by his wife, Vicki; daughter, Cherry Victoria Holland; his son, Robert B. Holland III, daughter in-law, Michelle Holland, and grandson, Chase Holland. Memorial services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 7th, at the Church of the Servant, 14343 N MacArthur Blvd. in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oklahoma City Police Athletic League www.okcpal.org.

DEAREST VICKI,
I FIND MYSELF REMEMBERING YOUR BEAUTIFUL WEDDING AT OUR VOSE FAMILY FARM. FOR FUN, WE TIED YOUR GET A WAY CAR TO A HUGE TREE WITH A GIGANTIC CHAIN. BOB JUST KEPT THINKING THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR UNTIL HE FINALLY SAW ALL OF US FALLING DOWN LAUGHING AND REALIZED THAT, ONCE AGAIN,. AS THEY SAY NOW--HE'D BEEN PUNKED. Vicki-Bob and I were friends and frat bros for many decades. He was a wonderful friend to not only Bob and I but to my family and I loved him very much. I was sadden to hear about the loss of Bob. I had worked with him back in 2001-2003 at QCB...he was a hard worker and very involved within the community. Vicki, Victoria and Robert - be proud of him for he touched many life's along his journey. I know he was proud of each of you and I know he will me missed by many! God Bless!!!

Bob, We have been truely blessed to have known you and to be counted among your friends. We will miss playing golf with you and the camaraderie it afforded us. You were always there to lend a hand or just lend an ear. We cannot put into words the depth of our sorrow at your sudden departure from this earth.
