Robert Brandt Obituary

Robert E. Brandt Sr., a decorated Navy pilot in the Pacific during World War II, Bob was called "Burly Bob" as a young man; "Squire" in middle age; and "Grampy" for the later decades of his long life. He was a gentleman and a man's man, but a more sensitive and loving man would be hard to find. He was in the energy business all his life, first as co-owner of Lafayette Coal and later with Lafayette Energy Company. His special joy was his wife, Lorraine, whom he knew since they were 16. They were married for 69 years in November, and members of LaGrange Country Club since 1950. Bob was an extremely talented artist, and it was a passion he pursued his entire life. His sense of humor and famous "one-liners" will keep his family and friends laughing for years to come. When recently asked if he wanted an open or closed casket, he quickly replied, "Depends on how good I look." He is succeeded by his loving and loyal wife Lorraine; his children, Barbara, Bob Jr., and Dyanne (Bob Branand); his 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday from 3-9pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Prayers Saturday 10:45am from the chapel to St. John of the Cross Church in Western Springs for Mass at 11:15am Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Congregation of St. Joseph, 1515 W. Ogden Ave., LaGrange Park, IL 60526. Funeral Info: (708) 352-6500
