Rita Schweig Obituary

Rita A. Schweig, 93, lifelong resident of Cicero passed away on February 1, 2011 at her daughter's home in San Jose, CA. Visitation Tuesday, February 8, at Sourek Manor & Sons Funeral Home, 5645 W. 35th Street, Cicero, IL, from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by an 11:30 a.m. Mass at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Mrs. Schweig was a retired nurse from Loretto Hospital for 35 years. She was past president of St. Mary's Grandmother Club and St. Mary's Seniors, a member of St. Mary's Seniors, St. Mary's Rosary Society, Drexel Horizon Friendship Club, Drexel Seniors, Prime Timers, St. Odilo Seniors, a Bingo Volunteer at St. Mary's, C.C.W. at St. Dionysius, Meals on Wheels for 10 years, Cypress Center/St. Christopher Women's Guild and Senior Italian American Club. She graduated from St. Valentine's School and Morton High School. She was also active in CA in the Willow Senior Center and the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed clubs, soaps, game shows and casinos. Wife of the late Fred; mother of the late Francene Baiss and the late Fred; and sister of Jerome Skrzydlewski. Arrangements by Sourek Manor & Sons Funeral Home, Cicero. Info: (708) 652-6661

Rita's husband, Fred, was the brother of my father (Edward Schweig). Although I hadn't seen Rita in many years, I remember her vibrant personality and love of nursing. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
