I worked with Dick both in Boston as well as in Chicago during the Turn-Style days. He was the person that was instrumental in moving my husband and me to Chicago from Boston. How our lives would have been so different if he didn't encourage us to move!
Dick had a great sense of humor and was always fun to be around--I can still hear his laugh!
I'm sorry that I'm just reading about his passing now as I would have liked to express my sympathy to his entire family in person. May the family's many happy memories help sustain their loss of this vibrant person. RIP.

We were best friends at age 6 thru 9 years old when we went to Henry grammar school. Our birthdays were only a few days apart. I used to eat at his house and then tell my mother that I wanted dinner like I had at
Ritchies house, a plain ordinary dinner. My mother always made me eat salad and vegetables along with dinner. Those were good memories. My family moved in 1948 and I don't think we ever ran into one another
again until Mike Kaplan who worked with Richie at Osco mentioned him to Don Kosh whom I have been friends with since 6 months old. Don is in Las Vegas with Mike Kaplan and Art Newman celebrating their 80th
birthdays just called me about Ritchie. Old friends are always missed.

Richard, you will always be my favorite customer at Aurelios of LaGrange. I loved you like a brother and wish we had gotten around to that game of golf we always talked about. You will be sorely missed and my deepest condolences to your wonderful family. God bless

So sad to hear of your loss. Dick was a wonderful man. I'll always remember sitting next to him as buyers at Osco. That is when we became friends. He always offered help and advice to me as a fledgling buyer at the time. He LOVED beating me on the tennis court; him being the older wiser/craftier player. I can hear him even now saying, "Here I come!" when he'd be down a few games. He drafted me into the softball league and he was something to watch on that pitching mound. He'd have that big smile and great laugh as he'd strike you out....a real competitor. It's memories like that which will always keep him alive in my heart. I hope in time you may find that to be true as well and in some way helps the grief subside. My deepest sympathies to you and the entire Potokar family.

I will always cherish the wonderful memories of Dick Potokar. Over 30 years ago he gave me my first big order while he was a buyer for Osco. A year later, I was playing on his softball team and developing a lasting friendship. My deepest sympathies to the Potokar family.

So sorry for your loss. Dick was one of the nicest people. I always looked forward to family gatherings knowing at some point I would get to talk with him and discuss sports and just laugh. He always genuinely asked about my family and me and I will miss that moving forward. We lost a good one and I am praying for the entire Potokar clan.
