Richard Lobas Obituary

Richard "Rich" Joseph Lobas, 57, of Westmont passed away peacefully on January 2, 2011 surrounded by his family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 26, 1953, in Lemont. Devoted and loving son of Joseph R. and the late Elizabeth (nee Sczepaniak) Lobas. Loving brother of Debra (Jeff) Norton of Lemont, Kathleen Reagin of Downers Grove, Maureen (Lee) Lasseigne of Bolingbrook. Fond uncle of Taylor, Danielle and Hayley Reagin, Christopher Smyth and Kelley Lasseigne. Dear nephew and godson of Marlene Bremmer of Des Plaines. Godfather and cousin of Joel and Mary Bremmer. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Josephine Sczepaniak. Rich attended Lemont Public and St. Patrick's grade schools. He graduated from Hinsdale South High School and also attended University of Illinois Circle Campus. He was employed in Hotel Management and Services. He was passionate about cooking and especially enjoyed preparing meals for his family and friends. Rich was very active in sports (baseball). He also enjoyed and loved to golf every chance he could over the years. Rich recently took up fishing this past year. He was and avid White Sox fan as well as the Bears and Blackhawks and followed his sports team throughout his life. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends, but will always be remembered for his quiet smile, for he was gone too soon. A memorial mass celebrating Richard's life will be held on Saturday, January 29, at 10:00 a.m. at. St. Mary's of Gostyn Church, Downers Grove.
