Richard Billik Obituary

Richard J. Billik a long-time Brookfield resident, an attorney of over 50 years and beloved father of Rick Billik and Janet (Mark) Holecek, proud grandfather of Michael and Keith Holecek, and dear half-brother of William Kirk passed away in Orlando, Florida, on April 29, 2008. Richard, a former clerk of Provisio Township, practiced law in various areas with a particular interest in municipal law. He was a veteran who worked his way through law school and eventually became interested in local politics. Richard enjoyed playing golf at the Riverside (IL) Golf Club and enjoyed, when staying in Orlando, the Bay Hill Golf Club. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and, most importantly, with his grandchildren. He was married for over 50 years to "Ele" who predeceased him and who was the love of his life. He will be greatly missed. A private service will be held for the family, and arrangements will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park (708) 442-8500.

I was sorry to read of the death of your Father, he incorporated a company for me many years ago. We laughed because he said his name was Billik and his Mother's name was Cermak, my Mother's name was Bily and of course my name is Cermak, we wondered if there was some relationship even though the last name was spelled different. He was a great person and it was my pleasure to have known him.
