Rhonda Parker Obituary

Rhonda Kay Bone Parker went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on January 17th, 2012 in Colorado Springs, CO. Born September 6th, 1958 in Oak Park, IL to Jim and Lonnie Bone, Rhonda was 53 years old at the time of her passing. From an early age, it was clear to Rhonda that she wanted to be a nurse. While attending Proviso West High School in Hillside, IL, she worked at a nearby nursing home and began realizing her childhood dream. Upon graduation in 1976, Rhonda enrolled at the West Suburban School of Nursing in Oak Park, IL, and graduated three years later as an R.N. She received her BSN from the University of St. Francis. She was quickly hired in her chosen profession at Hinsdale Hospital, and continued her work as a nurse until her passing, having worked her final shift at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs only a few days earlier. Rhonda's faith in God was the central motivation in her life and that legacy was lived out daily as she deeply touched the lives of literally thousands of patients, strangers, friends and family over the course of her life. She managed to pack more love, compassion, kindness and consideration into her short 53 years than many who live far longer. Rhonda is survived by her mother Lonnie Bone; her brother Russ Bone, his wife Gail and their children Justin and his wife Terri, Cianja, Nathan and Theodore; her sister Renee, her husband Phil Haugen and their four children Abigail, Rebekah, Hannah and Andrew; her sister-in-law Karen Bone and her ten children Jenny, Josh, Jessica, Johanna, Janine, Julie, Jeremy, Jimmy, Janet and Jonathan and her step-son Brendan Zaebst. In addition, she is survived by dozens of extended family members who also deeply grieve her departure and many friends, co-workers and other loved ones who join her family in missing her intensely. Rhonda was preceded in death by her husband Randy Parker in 2008, her father James Bone in 2006, and her brother Randy Bone in 2004. A Memorial Service was held Saturday January 21st at Western Springs Baptist Church. Interment was at Bronswood Cemetery. Memorials in Rhonda's memory may be made to the Western Springs Baptist Church, 4475 Wolf Rd., Western Springs, IL 60558. Hallowell & James Funeral Home assisting the family 708-352-6500.

I did not have the privilege of knowing Rhonda but I am honored to follow in her footsteps here at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. I am the Chief Nursing Officer here and was making rounds yesterday when I heard about her wonderful gifts. I am sorry I heard the news late or I would have been there to represent all her colleagues here at AHH. From what I heard, I know Rhonda was committed to the highest of standards and also great teamwork. She will continue to inspire our work. I am so sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Shawn Tyrrell

Dear Renee, The greatest thing our heart can experience is God's presence. He is greater than any of His gifts, more enjoyable than any of His blessings, and more satisfying than any of His provisions. When He gives Himself to us, there is nothing greater that He can give. Father, Thank You for keeping Renee, and her famly, in Your love and care in the midst of such a terrible loss;even at those times when they may not have been aware of Your provision and protection. Psm. 121:3-4 "He who keeps you...will neither slumber nor sleep."

How sad and way too early you were taken from this earth. From your Elvis cup, quirky pen, love of CC hockey. I pray you are aware of how much we all will miss you. God bless you and may your memory be eternal.

Rhonda you will truly be missed by many. We here at Memorial will miss you dearly. We loved your smile, your laughter and your quirkiness. Night shift will never be the same without you. I know you are now in a better place with your love Randy. Sing loud with all those angels, keep that voice heard. Love and miss you, Veltra

How very sad I was to read of Rhonda's passing. We spent so many "nights" at Hinsdale Hospital sharing a friendship that meant so much to me. She now has the blessings of our Lord and Savior and is reunited with loved ones. But, how much she will be missed by all those who knew her. May the wonderful memories of her life remain forever in your hearts. Bonnie Mattiuz, RN
