Raymond Wiesbrook Obituary

Raymond Edward Wiesbrook ("Pinky the Plumber") died peacefully at this son's home in Burnet, TX on June 9. His daughter, Therese lives "katty-corner" in Burnet with her husband, Troy and Ray's five grand boys. Ray was born in 1919 to Edward & Gertrude(Barkei) Wiesbrook. He grew up in at 525 Main. The home was built and formally lived in by the son of Churchhill, the first settler of Glen Ellyn. Ray had two sisters, Edna and Ruth, and a brother, James. Ray is survived by Ruth, who still lives in Glen Ellyn. All of the children went to St. Petronille school. Ray's father found the land that St. Petronille was to be built and was instrumental in the purchase. Ray was married to Helen (Nierhoff) in 1947. They had four children, Gregg, Mike, Pat and Therese. When Helen passed away, Ray married Nancy (Woods) who has since passed away. Ray was a product of the Roaring Twenties, the Depression and WWII. His relatives go back to the 1840's were pioneering farm families of Dupage: Yackleys, Barkei's Lamberts and Wiesbrook's. In the service during WW11 he was a proud member of the VFW for 59 years. His father, Ed had a plumbing company in Glen Ellyn and Ray became a master plumber. Besides being a "plumber's" plumber", he was also proficient in most of the "trades." When not working or on some project (seldom), he was a "kid at heart." He loved the beach, circus, parades, fireworks and family picnics. Until his final few years, you could always find him dancing at Big Band dances. Services will be held at St. Petronille, Glen Ellyn on August 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. and mass said by cousin, Fr. Tom Cargo. Immediately following, the burial will take place at St. Peter & Pauls in Naperville. From 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. , there will be a picnic for friends and family members at Glen Ellyn boathouse to share stories and memories. May Dad and Mom rest in peace. God bless them.
