Raymond David Schneider, SR. age 85, passed away on February 8, 2024.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret (Marge) Ann Schneider his children, Charles "Chuck" Lawrence Schneider III (Stephanie) and Raymond "Ray" David Schneider, JR. (Carolina) and his five grandchildren, Charles/Stephanie – Joshua Steven and Ashleigh Grace; Raymond – Jake Alen, Justine Lyn and Kyle Ray and one great-grandchild Aubrey Jane Mascheri and one Sister Mary Carol Stelcher (Bill). His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his Father, Charles Lawrence "C. L." Schneider, SR; Mother, Helen Mildred Schneider; Sister, Patricia Reilly and Brother Charles Lawrence "Lonny" Schneider. Ray was born on November 19, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois. Growing up he lived in Michigan with substantial time living in Chesterton Indiana on the family homestead PALOMARA Farm. The name PALOMARA is a combination of his and his brother and sisters first initials. He attended the Hall of the Devine Child military school for elementary education and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Kentucky – 1956. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Tri-State College, Angola, Indiana in December of 1960 (now Trine University) where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Upsilon Fraternity. Following in his father's footsteps, Ray primarily worked in the transportation industry in various office and executive positions, some of which include, Western (where he met his future wife – Marge), Chippewa, and Willett companies. Then he took a leap of faith and became licensed as a financial advisor and started a business that kept him busy up until his death. He was a beloved father, husband, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Ray was the type of person that would unconditionally help out a neighbor or family member. But more than anything, Ray was a devoted husband and father. He and Marge were one in marriage, love and parents raising their boys. He was very proud of his sons and loved his grandchildren and great grandchild immensely. Many fond memories were cemented during family vacations, visiting Ray's childhood home in Chesterton Indiana, and just being a great husband and father. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced. Growing up his hobbies included hunting and fishing with his father both on their family homestead and hunting trips out west. Ray didn't have just one hobby but loved to tinker by taking things apart that didn't work and bring new life into the object for many more years of use. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
