I only knew Ralph glancingly as the cool dad of Intermediate School classmate, Michelle (Shelley). The Witten tribe was fun, committed to the community, and somehow in 1968 a thoroughly modern family. Coming to one of Shelley's parties I recall Ralph making us kids so welcome. That's what impressed me: his egalitarian nature. My condolences to the family.
