This message goes out to Peter's family, but most especially his mother, Judy. Peter was such a special person and my heart is breaking to hear of his passing. We haven't been in touch for 20 yrs yet I thought of him often. Especially while searching out colinsea verna at Messenger Woods. Sending you love, Jen Connon (Coby)

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news of Peter's passing. I knew him in grad school up in Maine, and thought of him often throughout the years since. I was sorry to lose touch with him. He was gentle and kind, and a champion at navigating through bogs. I'll always remember smoking a cigar with him during fieldwork in the Everglades. My heart goes out to his family. May his memory be a blessing and his loved ones be comforted.

I am so very sorry to learn of Peter's passing. He was a friend of my brother, William (Bill) Ralph Vogel, many years ago in Elmhurst. My brother passed away suddenly October 17, 2016 but, I wanted to share my deepest and sincere condolences as I too recall my brother's friend, Peter. I will keep Peter, his family and friends in my prayers.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Nilles family, especially Matt, whom we have known for many years and introduced us to Peter a long time ago at a backyard birthday party at the Nilles home in Elmhurst. He was a fine young man, and we are sorry for your and Lourene's loss.

Dear Brea, Andy, Linda, Sam, Charles, Lorane and Nilles family,
Know that Pete was a great soul, and that your pain and grief will pass with time. I heard over and over that Pete was a perfectionist and with that know that through his perfectionism was a candle with a light shining brighter than we can reach but it was through our beautiful Charles that their perfectionism was reached. He is loved beyond words, will be missed beyond words but his light will be carried on forever. With Love and Prayers

Peter rehabbed my first home. I loved when his red truck pulled up because I knew my day was going to be a little brighter. He was a perfectionist with a talent, vision, and intelligence I was so honored to experience. He was a kind and gentle soul...may you rest in peace now Peter.

Peter and I were alike in many ways with a passion for knowledge and correctness, a love for the outdoors and the adventures that lie ahead on the horizon.
Gentlemen, we are going to relentlessly chase perfection, knowing full well we will not catch it, because nothing is perfect. But we are going to relentlessly chase it, because in the process we will catch excellence. - Vince Lombardi
