Peace Mom. You are forever a light in our hearts. Thank you for the joy, the love, the laughter. Thank you for all you gave us. For all you did. For all you taught us. For all your care. We feel your continuing presence and love. Thank you Father God for this most precious gift, our mother Pauline.

Pauline Landrosh in a one word description: Survivor
She survived the Great Depression of the 1930s.
She survived World War II during the 1940s.
She quit high school during the war, as many people did, to work at an airplane plant located at the current Ford City Mall, on an assembly line, checking airplane gears. Her family affectionately called her Americas Secret Weapon.
She survived losing both her parents in her mid 20s while having three small children, ages 4, 5 and 6.
She attended night school to complete her GED with children in high school and grammar school. She continued on to obtain her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts at Richard J. Daley Jr. College.
She survived having a one-car family, without ever driving. She walked her children everywhere; to school, church, doctor, dentist, library, park, dance class, their friends homes. Or she took them farther using public transportation.
She mowed the lawn until she was 80 years old.
She survived for 21 years after the passing of her husband Paul.
She survived for ten years after her diagnosis of dementia.
She survived for six years with continually failing eyesight due to macular degeneration in both eyes.
Pauline is one of the last of The Greatest Generation, a name given to Americans born in the 1900s and through the 1920s. Survivors.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting and crocheting, yoga and music. Especially music. Continuing far into her dementia, she remembered the words to so many songs it was unbelievable. Oh, and making raspberry fluff. Ask her grandkids.
