Paul J. Burke, Sr. formerly of Wilmington, Navy vet; 72 PALM COAST, FL Mr. Paul J. Burke, Sr., 72, of Palm Coast, FL, died March 11, 2008, in Ormond Beach, FL. Paul was a longtime resident of Wilmington. He was born March 23, 1935, in Dorchester, MA, son of the late Mary McCarthy. He grew up in Wilmington, and graduated from Wilmington High School Class of 1954. Paul served in the U. S. Navy from 1955-1959 aboard the USS Francis M.. Robinson out of Key West, FL. He worked as a Lab Technician for many years at Olin Chemical Company in Wilmington. Paul was a long time fan of Wilmington sports, as well as the Red Sox and Patriots. He was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with his bowling league, and he and Joanne loved to travel and take cruises. Paul was the beloved husband of Joanne M. (Bennett) Burke; devoted father of Kathleen Fulmer and her husband, Evan of Merrimack, NH, Paul Burke, Jr., and his wife, Debra of North Andover, and Kevin Burke and his wife, Sandra of Wilmington; loving grandfather of Desiree, Jessalynne, Kendra, and Kevin; great- grandfather of Malik, Jayde, and Soraya. BURKE Paul J., Sr., 72, of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Wilmington, March 11, 2008. Beloved husband of Joanne M. (Bennett) Burke. His funeral will be held from the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, on Saturday morning, March 15th, at 9:00 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Tewksbury Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
