Patricia Messina Obituary
Patricia Dare Messina, born in 1947 and known as Dare to all her family and countless friends, tragically passed away on March 27th 2016. Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, she was a longtime resident of Elmhurst.
Dare divided her time among her family, career, and philanthropic passions. She moved to Elmhurst in 1974 while working as a Flight Attendant for United Airlines, consistently moving skyward in her career.
She had two children, John (Jen) Moore and Courtney (Scott) Braafhart nee Moore. While her children were in school, she began selling real estate and formed many lifelong relationships as she helped guide people through the joys and challenges of buying and selling homes. She volunteered her time to several civic organizations including but not limited to the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club, the Rotary Club and the Easter Seals.
Dare most loved the time she spent with her siblings, parents, children, and grandchildren.
Dare is predeceased by her father, Joseph A. Messina II; and survived by her mother, Helen Patricia Messina; sisters, Robin (Ronald) Hein nee Messina, Cynthia Messina; and her brother, Joseph A. (Annette) Messina III. Also surviving are her two children and six grandchildren.
Visitation at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016. Friends are asked to gather for Mass at Visitation Church, 779 S. York St., Elmhurst at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2016. Private interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials will be appreciated for the Joseph A. Messina II Aviation Explorers Scholarship Fund, c/o Dr. Jose Ruiz, 454 N. Airport Rd., Murphysboro, IL 62966.

I am so sorry o hear of Dare's passing. I have very fond memories of her. I babysat both of her sweet kids when I was in high school. My deepest sympathies go out to her family.

After being with Dare almost every day, as children of the 50s, almost fifteen years had gone by till I saw her again. She was a Flight Attendant, on a layover in Atlanta - I was captivated - such grace and charm. Her passing saddens me greatly.

As I started my real estate career 10 years ago, I joined Keller Williams in Elmhurst because of Dare. She had a gentle and caring approach and I am honored to have had her as my mentor. She said to "give people what they expect and more". That says a lot of her approach to life professionally and personally. She will be missed by the community and by countless friends. There is a special place in heaven for her.

Our deepest sympathy ,
Dare touched our hearts when she came to sell our home, She helped us through a very difficult time, she'd say , " I know, pray, it's going to be just fine".
I can see that warm smile now. She was my angel !

As a fellow Palatine Township High School Class of '65 member, I was sorry to hear of Dare's passing. I think of her as a sweet, young girl who was kind to everyone. If I recall, she loved to wear pale colors, and matching wool outfits to school. We missed her at the reunion, and noted her absence. May she rest in peace.
