Im so sorry for your loss! I just came across this in 2024. My grandfather, George Cross was good friends with him, they both were in 3rd Army, and lived in the Villa Park area after the war. Even after Grandpa moved out of Illinois, they always stayed in touch. I remember him getting excited one day when he got a package from Otto, and it was full of St Petersburg Police drinking glasses and lanyards. Grandpa passed in 2001, and I can picture them having a drink and laughing together, reunited again.

Otto was a good friend and mentor. He was my neighbor and got me started collecting coins. When my husband Mike and I would come to Florida from our home in Sun City AZ...we always make it a point to visit Otto. We shall miss him very much.

Otto Albuschat was a one-of-a-kind man. He had an enormous amount of knowledge about geography and how people of the world live. He was proud of his son's accomplishments and supported our biomedical research activities with a sincere heart. In addition, he understood how much effort it takes from scientists to bring forth new information to help those suffering from diseases.
He maintained a steadfast composure until the very last. Otto was a true hero and taught us how to live. We will miss him and his strong voice of advocacy!

I had the honor and priviledge to work with Otto at SPPD for many years. He was a true professional and brought justice to many deserving victims and their families.
