Orson Leavitt Obituary

Orson Leavitt 1/3/1918 ~ 10/12/2006 Orson Leavitt, 88, passed away peacefully at his home. He was born in Mesquite, NV to Franklin and Selena Hafen Leavitt. He married Bernece Pulsipher in the Salt Lake Temple October 9, 1939. Orson was an active member in the LDS Church. He served as ward clerk and other assignments in Mesquite, NV where he lived for 30 years. He moved his family to Salt Lake City in 1948. He served as 70s President in Rosecrest Ward, 10 years as High Councilman in the Canyon Rim Stake. Orson and Bernece were stake and district dance directors, for eight years as Salt Lake Temple ordinance workers. After moving to Salt Lake, Orson, with Howard and Stewart Pulsipher, started Leavitt & Pulsipher Masonry. Orson served as president of the Mason Contractors Association of Utah. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, of 67 years, Bernece; daughters, Deone (Nick) Clayson, Pam Kener; son, Shirl (Carma) Leavitt; and brother, Wendell; nine grandchildren, Rick, Trent, Kolten, Niccol, Blake, Cory, Lance, Brooke, Anna; 25 great-grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews. Orson is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Odell, and Martin; and sister, Lindy. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 16, 2006, 1:00 p.m. at the Rosecrest Ward, 3101 So. 2300 E. Friends and family may visit from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the church Monday prior to services. Condolences may be sent to www.holbrookmortuary.com
