Neil Bisset Stark

Neil Bisset Stark passed away October 15, 2015, at the age of 89. He was born October 5, 1926, in Yonkers, NY to Thomas Alexander Stark and Muriel Iva Bisset.

In 1937, they moved to Falls Church and later to Arlington, Virginia. Neil graduated from Western High School in Washington, DC and enlisted, at age 17, in the Army Air Force, attending Duquesne University. He traveled with the Air Force to Guam and was later discharged, attended Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, and graduated with a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering.

In 1952, Mr. Stark began work with the Timken Company, and worked with them for 34 1/2 years in their railroad sales division. Retired in 1985, he started his own business as a manufacturer's representative, still maintaining his contact with the railway industry.

Mr. Stark was a member of the Union League Club, serving as chairman of the Railway Supply Group. He was a director of the Railway Supply Association, a member of the Western Railway Club, Edgewood Valley Country Club, and a Director Emeritus of the Western Golf Association, where he assisted many young men and women to become Evans Scholars. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Western Springs, where he served as a deacon and as head usher.

Neil Stark was married on November 21, 1953, to Laura Jeanette Marshall, who preceded him in death on July 30, 2007. They are survived by four children, Steve (Pat) of Beaverton, OR, Tim (Sheila) of Wind Lake, WI, Linda Zarrella (Dan) of Scottsdale, AZ, and Jeanette Eckhardt (Steve) of Ankeny, IA; five grandchildren, Chas, Zachary, Christine and Tommy Stark, and Matt Butson; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Stark was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Stark Tolson and Connie Stark Sligh.

A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Western Springs, 5250 Wolf Road, on October 25th at 2:00 in the afternoon.
