Nancy Filip Obituary

Nancy E. Filip, age 88, of Waukesha, WI, formerly of La Grange Park, IL, passed away on October 4, 2025. Born on August 28, 1937, she was the beloved daughter of Edward and Mary (née Dubsky) Filip and sister to Marie and Margaret (Marge) Filip. A graduate of Nazareth Academy and Marquette University, Nancy dedicated her life to education and public service. She taught English at Nazareth Academy and later served as a case worker and supervisor in public aid and Medicare services, concluding her career as a CAMPUS Manager at Blue Cross Blue Shield. Nancy loved nature, was an avid reader, and enjoyed summers in Michigan with family. She was an accomplished wordsmith and took pleasure in conversation, debate and word games. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, brother-in-law Richard Konigsfeld, and lifelong friend Pat Casey. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Kathy (Craig) Merrill, Mike (Jacky) Konigsfeld, Jim Konigsfeld, and Mary (Mark) Wejrowski; her grandnieces and grandnephews; and great-great-niece and nephew. Interment: Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.

I got the absolute privilege in helping caring for Nancy at mission creek. I will miss her beyond measure. I´ll miss our conversations and our scrabble games. You were a gem Nancy and I´ll miss you. Until we meet again friend.

I knew her as "Miss Filip," my high school English teacher my sophomore year at Nazareth Academy, 1962-63. The day I first walked into her classroom I began to cry, as I had been expecting a different and favorite teacher. Little did I realize that Miss Filip would soon become one of my favorite teachers of all time. Seemingly stern, she proved to be kind, highly intelligent, intellectually adventurous and encouraging of creativity in all its forms. I owe so much in life to the generous, perceptive teaching and mentoring of the many good women who taught at Nazareth Academy through those years. In the company of a stellar and caring faculty dear Miss Filip was a standout.
