Maureen rented a small parking space behind a house/business I own in Topeka. She was such a creature of habit, I could set my watch and the day of the week by her habits. But I think the habit that I most admired about her, was the constant smile on her face, the cheerful wave she would give me when I saw her pull in for the evening. A happy hello, after a day at work. A day at work filled with women at a correctional facility. Wow. Never in the almost 8 years that I knew Maureen did I hear a complaint about her charges.

Maureen would let my wife or I know when she was headed to see family and freinds and would be gone for a few days. If we forgot to let our staff know that she would not be in her "spot" they would call us with concern about her whereabouts.
Her ability to affect people, in such a special way in a small amount of time will be missed by all. God Bless

I will always remember you and James standing in the doorway waiting for us to pull up to the house in Fairbury, riding around in Grandpa's Oldsmobile- my foot on the gas and yours on the brake, you teaching me to ride a bike for the first time, and waiting up for you when you were on a date. In the end everything happened so fast and there was so much I didn't get to say. There will always be a hole in my heart that will go unfilled. My one piece of mind is that you didn't go out wondering who loved you, and that God who loves you more than any of us ever could, in his mercy and grace didn't let you suffer long. You will always be loved, you will always be remembered. Cousin David

Maureen will always be remembered by me as a very kind person who could always make me laugh. David called when she was in the hospital. It was a loss for everyone who knew her. It happened so fast. She will be remembered always. I remember the first time I met her and I won't forget the last time I saw her. For her family, I am sorry for your loss. Maureen was special. ~~Melissa C.

My deepest sympathy to you during this very sad time in your life, in the death of Your Beloved Daughter, Sister and Friend, Maureen!

Maureen, had a wonderful sense of humor. In the twenty plus years that I have known her, she was always very cordial to me. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
