Maureen R. Lyons

Maureen, aka "Meanie", was born in Chicago, IL to the late Daniel and Mary Lyons. She joined the family as little sister to Bernard Lyons (Margaret).
Meanie was a loving aunt to the late Daniel Lyons. She will be remembered and dearly missed by her nephew and godson, Bernard Lyons Jr. (Nancy), and her niece, Mary (Scott).
Meanie cherished her role as great aunt to Lindsay Lyons, Jamie Lyons (Hannah), Kyle Lyons, Emma Lane and Therese Lane. She recently became a great, great aunt to Harrison Lyons.
After Maureen graduated from DePaul University BA (1958) and Purdue University MS (1968), she started her teaching career in the Chicago Public School System. In 1969 she became a proud member of Lyons Township High School staff. After 32 years of dedicated service to the students and staff at LTHS she retired as the school's Librarian in 2001.
After retirement Maureen traveled often, even visiting extended family in Northern Italy. In addition to her travel, Maureen started a rewarding part - time position at Green Hills Public Library in Palos Hills, IL where she helped others find the love of books and continued to follow her passion of reading.
Maureen loved her family, her many friends, her career, her adventures in travel and her poetry and numerous books. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maureen's memory to the Lyons Township High School General Scholarship Fund, 100 S. Brainard Ave., La Grange, IL 60525. Attn: College Center. (Checks should be made out to Lyons Township High School).
Burial will be private.
