Matthew Yantis Obituary

On Friday, April 25, 2008 Matthew Alexander Yantis joined his maternal grandfather Harold G. Berg and his paternal grandparents, William A. and Marion H. Yantis in glory. Matthew was born May 25, 1979 in Winfield, IL, attending schools in Glen Ellyn, IL until he moved with his family to Mendham, NJ. Matthew graduated from West Morris Mendham High School in 1997 where he excelled in the classroom as well as on the football field. He graduated from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA in 2001 with a BA in Finance. He worked for Vanguard before winning a scholarship to law school. He received his Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine Law School in Malibu, CA in 2005. He subsequently passed the Pennsylvania and California State Bar exams. Matthew is survived by his parents, William and Susan Yantis of Amelia Island, FL, his sisters Amelia of Boston, MA and Lisa (John Downey) of Greenville, SC. Also his maternal grandmother Lucille Berg of River Forest, IL, his uncle Jeffrey Berg (Sue) Melrose Park, IL, aunt Kimberly Edwards (John) River Forest, IL, uncle Barry Yantis (Jane) St. Joseph, MO, uncle Brian Yantis (Marilyn) Arlington Heights, IL niece Katherine Downey, nephew Alexander Downey, cousins Ryan Berg, Mitchell Berg, Jack Edwards, Max Edwards, Haley Edwards, Brett Yantis, Kristin Mettler, Alexander Yantis, Amanda Yantis, Andrew Yantis and many close friends. Matt will be remembered as an articulate, thoughtful, intelligent man with a love of music, books and history, and a wonderful wit. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a remembrance of Matthew may be made to Lehigh University, please indicate In Memory of Matthew A. Yantis '01.
