Mary C. Stefanini Utica
Mrs. Mary C. (Capozzella) Stefanini, age 90, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Acquino, Italy, on March 14, 1919, Mary was the daughter of the late Constanzo and Maria Libra (Venditti) Capozzella. She immigrated to the United States in July of 1934 as a young girl and attended local schools. On February 3, 1940, in Utica, she married Dominic Stefanini with whom she shared nearly 38 years in a loving marriage prior to his passing on January 19, 1978. During her younger days, Mary worked as an assembler at General Electric Co. on French Rd. until retiring in December of 1979. Independent and traditional in her beliefs, values, and way of life, Marys home was her castle and she took great pride in maintaining it. She enjoyed going to the Sangertown Square McDonalds every day to meet her friends for coffee, until the time of her illness. She was also a member of the East Side Senior Center. At one time, she was a parishioner of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament. Mary is survived by her nieces and nephews, Debbie and Ben Vennero of Deerfield, Dianna and Mike Suppa of Utica, and Denise Lazarczyk of CA; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and her sister-in-law, Marilyn E. Capozzella of Utica. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucy and Daniel Lazarczyk, and Nicolina and Thomas Mielo; and her brother, Constantino T. Andy Capozzella. The family is grateful to the St. Elizabeth Medical Center staff of 3A, Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., with special acknowledgement of Dr. Michael Schiano, Dr. Eric Freiberger, and Theresa Chickering, RN, for the care and compassion they rendered to Mary. In keeping with Marys wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Monday morning (today) at 11:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave., with Rev. Paul Alciati officiating. Entombment will follow at Crown Hill Memorial Park. Give Uncle Dick and Dad a hug and kiss for us! Online tributes at:
