Mary Jane Shepherd

Mary Jane Shepherd (Nee Smith), age 89, late of Lockport, passed away peacefully Friday, January 15, 2016, at the home of her granddaughter, Michelle, surrounded by her loving family .

Born in Kankakee County, lifelong Lockport resident, recently living with her daughter in Lago Vista the past seven years.

She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, gardener, loved cooking, baking but most of all cherished spending time with her loving family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband, Darrell "Sparky" Shepherd (2008); parents, Michael and Esther (Anderson) Smith; six brothers, three sisters; and a son- in- law, James Jurmann.

Survived by her four devoted children, Tom (Terri) Shepherd, Wayne (Kathy) Shepherd, Janet (Nick Kozak, fiance) Jurmann and Darrell (Kathy)Shepherd; step-daughter, Lynette Miller; five loving grandchildren, Tom (Melissa) Shepherd, Michelle Condra-Shepherd, John (Jenny) Jurmann, Jim Jurmann and Christina (Steve) Hupke; three great grandchildren, Jordan Shepherd and Haley and Hannah Hupke. Numerous nieces, nephews, brothers- in- law, sisters-in-law and many friends also survive.

In lieu of flowers, donations to donors favorite animal charity would be appreciated.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the O'NEIL FUNERAL HOME, 1105 E. 9TH ST., (159TH ST.), LOCKPORT, with funeral services at 6:00 pm with Pastor Keith Harrison officiating. Family and friends are to gather at the funeral home on Friday, January 22, 2016, from 9:30am to 10:15am, then proceed to Lockport City Cemetery for committal services at 10:30am.
