Mary Edith Rorke (nee McCormick), beloved wife of Joseph L. Rorke (53 years), and the late Edward J. Schmidt, loving mother of Christine (Frank) McGee and the late Michael J. Rorke; dear grandmother of Daniel, Mary, and Bridgit; fond sister of Patricia (Edwin) Durham, and Madonna (William) Abroms, sister-in-law Jean McCormick; and the late Thomas (Jean) McCormick, Rose (Secondo) Cardoni, Charles McCormick, John (Jan) McCormick, Patrick, and William; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Mary was a resident of Downers Grove since 1957, formerly from Philo, Illinois, and the daughter of Thomas Patrick and Edith Margaret (Peters) McCormick. Mary was an active parishioner of Saint Joseph Parish in Downers Grove for over 60 years. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching for more than 40 years at several schools in the Downers Grove area, including Saint Joseph School, Puffer Elementary School, and other District 58 schools. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed skiing, golf, singing, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation Thursday, March 14th, 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main Street (1 Block South of Ogden Avenue), Downers Grove, IL 60515. Funeral Friday, March 15th, 10:00 a.m. from Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home to St. Joseph Church, 4801 Main Street, Downers Grove, IL 60515. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
