Marjorie Withers Obituary

Marjorie Carlson Withers claimed her Baptismal Inheritance of Eternal Life with Christ on January 14, 2010. She was born in Geneva, IL in 1928, the daughter of Fritz and Frances Carlson, and was raised in nearby Batavia, where she graduated from high school. After receiving her Registered Nurse diploma at Evanston (IL) Hospital, she was employed by Delnor Hospital in St. Charles, IL before marrying her husband, Jerry Withers, of Ft. Worth, TX in 1951. He was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. The couple lived in various cities in TX and NJ before moving to the St. Louis area in 1960. For many years, she was an active member of various Lutheran churches, where she served on the church council and women's groups and was a teacher. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Hospice. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jerry; three children, David (Judy) Withers of St. Peters, Ann Studards of O'Fallon, Karen (Mark) Wenzelburger of Girard, KS; five granddaughters, Melissa, Megan, Katie, Jenna and Kimber; and a great-granddaughter, Kelsie; sister-in-law, L.B. Withers of TX and a brother-in-law, Ronald Archer of MA. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Peterson of Brookfield, WI and Joyce Archer of Amherst, MA. Services: Funeral service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 14088 Clayton Road, Chesterfield, Monday, January 18, 2010, 10:00 a.m. Interment Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Chesterfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 14088 Clayton Rd., Chesterfield, MO 63017, Lutheran Family and Children's Service, 8631 Delmar Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63124, Lutheran Senior Services, 1150 Hanley Industrial Ct., St. Louis, MO 63144 or a charity of your choice. Visitation at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Sunday 4-8 p.m. and at the church Monday 9 a.m. until time of service.
