Marjorie (Goodreau) O'Connell, age 97, of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at JGS Lifecare in Longmeadow, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield on October 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Julia (Corcoran) Goodreau.
Marjorie was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. She worked at New England Telephone Company, where she devoted 13 years of service. In 1959, Marjorie married James J. O'Connell, who also worked at New England Telephone, and together they settled in Longmeadow to raise their family.
Marjorie was a devoted mother and grandmother, always supporting her loved ones and cherishing their accomplishments. She leaves behind her son, Daniel J. O'Connell and his wife Nuchjaree of East Longmeadow, MA; her daughters, Cindy O'Connell of Chatham, MA, and Karen Aiello and her husband Peppino of East Longmeadow, MA. Marjorie's legacy continues through her four beloved grandchildren: Jack O'Connell, Julianna, Marco, and James Aiello. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, James; and her two sisters, Barbara Dion and Judith Lauer.
Throughout her life, Marjorie enjoyed the company of many friends and was known for her love of socializing and entertaining. She valued spending time with her children and grandchildren, and her favorite vacation destinations included Hawaii, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Cape Cod.
