Marion Pearce Obituary

Marion Ruth Guild Pearce, 90, died Monday, March 15, 2010, in the Virginia Mason Hospital, Seattle, WA. Marion was born July 21, 1919 in Grand Rapids, MI to Felicite Brown and Augustus Jared Guild and was predeceased by sibling May Porter. She attended the University of Michigan and graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago; in 1994, she was awarded a B.A. in History from Hood College, to the sound of her beloved bagpipes! She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, William E. Pearce, whom she married on Nov.14, 1941, at Grace Episcopal Church in Oak Park, Ill. Surviving are 4 daughters, Sarah J. Pearce, Harrisburg, PA, Peggy Morgan (James), Plainfield, WI, Ellen Brooks, Sedona, AZ, and Diana Pearce (George Wright), Seattle, WA, 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Marion and Bill raised their daughters in Elmhurst, IL, moving to Hendersonville, NC after retirement. In 1985, following Bill's death, Marion moved to Columbia, MD,serving in the church, visiting with family and traveling the world extensively. She always had a golden retriever by her side. She moved to Seattle, WA in 2002 to live in Hearthstone, a retirement facility. Memorial services will take place in Seattle and Pleasant Hill, MO, her husband's hometown, at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Marion's memory to your local American Heart Association or Humane Society. Remembrances may be sent to Ellen Brooks, 6770 W.
