Margaret Winfield Obituary

Margaret Carol Winfield (Peggy Eck), age 61, died February 1, 2009 in Columbia, Maryland, after a long struggle with breast cancer. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Winfield of Baltimore, Maryland; her mother, Maxine Eck of Lenexa, Kansas; her brother Charlie Eck and sister-in-law Susan Eck of Indian Head Park, Illinois; exhusband David Winfield; aunts, cousins, nieces, nephew and many close friends. Meg was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois, daughter of Maxine and Carl Eck. She graduated from Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, Illinois, class of 1965 and from the University of Illinois in 1969. She received a Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland and was a LCSW-C social worker. She worked for the Columbia Medical Plan and was founder and Executive Director of the New Life Counseling Center. Meg was in private practice in Columbia since 1985. Meg lived in Illinois, Texas, and Georgia, and spent most of her adult life in Columbia. She was an active and integral member of the Kittamaqundi Community Church for over 30 years. The church was her extended family and contributed immensely to her life, nurturing her, loving her and providing her spiritual comfort. Meg was a vibrant and loving person who enjoyed traveling (especially to Paris), meditating in the Great Pyramid in Egypt, spending Christmas in St. Martin with family, and going to Bethany Beach each year with her women friends. She loved sunsets, rainbows, dolphins, babies, painting, music and telling stories to her mother and daughter. She was especially fond of angels. The memorial service was held on Friday, February 6, 2:00pm at the Kittamaqundi Community Church. 5410 Leaf Treader Way, Columbia, MD 21044. Donations to Kittamaqundi Community Church or TAl Sophia Acupuncture Institute would be appreciated.
