Margaret A. Waldschmidt, age 82, of Elmhurst, IL; beloved wife of the late Carl; loving mother of Donna (Jim Spilos) McDowell, Alida Graham, Mark Phillips and Eric (Deborah) Waldschmidt; proud grandmother of Rachel (fiance Eric Fleming) Schmitt, Aaron (Lauren) McDowell, Katie McDowell, Hannah Waldschmidt and Lucas Carl Waldschmidt; honored great grandmother of Jane Marie McDowell; dear sister of Dr. Percy (Marion) Luecke Jr., Elizabeth (Rev. Andrew) Brondos, Marilyn Rynearson, Carolyn (Ed) Halter and the late Dorothy Williams. Margaret Waldschmidt was born on March 29, 1928 in Dallas, Texas to Amelia Katherine (nee Heiner) and Dr. Percy Luecke, Sr. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Texas Women's University and subsequently moved to New York City to study piano. She then accepted a teaching position at Concordia Teacher's College in River Forest, IL. Margaret earned a Master's degree from Northwestern University in Music. She was an accomplished pianist and shared her gift through teaching, accompanying, and performing in the Chicago area. Margaret was a member and held offices in Sigma Alpha Iota music sorority. Margaret volunteered and participated in many organizations giving of her time and talents to church and community. She was a shining example of someone who gave of herself to others throughout her life. All who knew her will miss her. Visitation at the Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary 435 N. York Rd. Elmhurst on Wednesday May 19, 2010 from 2 to 8 p.m. Private Interment Elm Lawn Cemetery. Memorial Service Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church 345 S. Dear Alida,
I am so sorry for your loss. I have lost so many family members, so I truly sympathize and empathize. I only take comfort in knowing I will see them again. God sure has a great bunch of Angels doesn't he? You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
