Margaret McBain Obituary

Margaret "Peg" McBain, 85, long time resident of Geneva, passed away Monday morning, June 20, 2011 in Bowling Green, KY. Peg was born on October 9, 1925 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Henry and Florence Schumacher. In 1946 she graduated from the University of Illinois. Following her graduation she worked in Chicago's bustling advertising community where in 1948 she met the man who would become her husband, Neil McBain. Peg and Neil were married on September 24, 1949. In 1956 they moved to Geneva where they resided for the next 30 years. Peg and Neil retired to homes in both Door County and Islamorada, Florida in 1986. She loved Door County and the views from her home which looked out on to Green Bay. Morning was her favorite time of day when songbirds would gather around her numerous feeders. Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie and Lesley, along with her son, Scott. Also surviving Peg are her grandchildren, Alex and Logan Tarrant along with Wyatt and Cody McBain. In 2001, Peg was preceded in death by her husband Neil. A memorial celebration of Peg's life will be held at later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peg's name would be gratefully accepted by: Unity Hospice, 30 N. 18th Avenue, Unit 9C, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235.
