Margaret Louise Lovingfoss

Died: February 16, 2021 in Winter Haven, FL
Beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandma and great grandma (gigi), passed away peacefully after a long illness, on February 16, 2021, at Winter Haven Hospital, in Winter Haven, Florida. She was a resident of Downers Grove, Illinois.
Margaret was born on December 10, 1925 in Davenport, Iowa and just celebrated her 95th birthday. Strong until the end, she remained an avid golfer, but didn't start until age 39. She was the recipient of many medals & awards, in both Illinois and Florida, playing as many as three rounds per week, at 94 years of age.
She was an active bowler, member of Downers Grove Golf Club, site of America's first 18-hole course and was also very active in her community, being a long time member of the American Legion, The Red Hatters, Moose Lodge and Social Senior Club, in Winter Haven. She had many friends in Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa and Florida and her sense of humor and friendship will be missed by all.
Margaret is preceded in death by her mother Fern Pearson, father John LeRoy O'Connor, two brothers, James O'Connor & Robert O'Connor and by her loving husband, Al. They were married for 64 years until his passing, in 2005. They were married in 1941, in Randall, Minnesota.
Her daughter Elda Gray passed away on March 4 of this year.
As a young married, one of her favorite stories was "we didn't have much money but we enjoyed friends and family. Usually we would get a six pack of beer, play pinochle or poker and have a great time." One of her favorite card games was "Nickels" and she'd usually clean up…right up until her passing.
Al and Margaret have two surviving children: Tim (Erika) Lovingfoss in Jacksonville, Florida and Nikki (Robert) Eickhoff from Morganton, Georgia.
Margaret is also survived by three grandchildren, Jennifer, Lindsay and Ashley and six great grandchildren, Shane, Erin, Jackson, Emma, Donavin and Ashtyn.
She will be buried, with Al, and next to her daughter Elda, at a graveside service on April 9, at 10am at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, in Keokuk, Iowa.
