Former Mansfield resident Mrs Minnie Hufton (95), of Whinneybank Residential home, Lossiemouth, Moray, northern Scotland, was cremated at Moray after a service at W. G. Catto Funeral Home in Elgin.
Born at Langwith and educated at Whaley Thorns School, Mrs Hufton had lived for 82 years at Mansfield - having resided at Smith Street and Gordon Avenue - and 13 years in Scotland.
On leaving school she worked as a matron's assistant at a Nottingham hospital and was then a domestic at Ransom Hospital, where she met her late husband, Matthew.
She enjoyed reading murder mystery novels, caravan holidays at Skegness, being with her family and the occasional glass of sherry.
Mrs Hufton, who died at Whinneybank Residential Home, leaves her daughter, Gillian, son Michael, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Mr Matthew Hufton, in December 1989.
Mourners were Mrs G. Heath, Mr and Mrs M. Hufton; Mr and Mrs J. Ross (representing Mrs L. Edmeades and Mr M. Heath), Miss R. Ross, Miss E. Ross, Mr and Mrs A. Ingham, Miss A. Ingham, Miss S. Ingham; Mr and Mrs M. Jones (representing Miss O. Jones and Master H. Jones), Mr and Mrs C. Robertson, staff of Whinneybank Residential Home.
Floral tributes were from the above and donations were received for Whinneybank Residential Home, Lossiemouth, Scotland.
The service was conducted by George Caldow, and arrangements were by W. G. Catto, Elgin.
