Lucille Schlachter Obituary

Lucille A. Schlachter age 89, of the Illinois Veteran's Home, Quincy died on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 1:12 a.m. in the home. Lucille was formerly of Hopedale and Glen Ellyn, IL. She was born September 8, 1922 in Hopedale, a daughter of Frank and Anna (Hauptly) Maurer. She married Roy Schlachter on December 31, 1949 in Trinity Church at Wheaton, IL and he preceded her in death on September 5, 1977. Lucille was a Registered Nurse who had worked professionally as a nurse at Electro-Motive Diesel, the DuPage County Health Department and for many years until she retired as nurse for the Addison School District. She was a 1940 graduate of Mackinaw High School, 1943 graduate of St. Francis Nursing School and graduated in 1948 from the University of Minnesota. She served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was discharged with the rank of Second Lieutenant. Lucille loved tending to her vegetable garden, she was a meticulous gardener and she greatly enjoyed her produce. Survivors include her children, Roy Schlachter of Hopedale, IL; Renee Traczyk of Delta, CO; Randy (Janice) Schlachter of Maumelle, AR and Robin (Bob) Urgo of Lisle, IL. Grandchildren: Martiel Beatty, Erica Traczyk; Craig and Kelly Schlachter, Bob and Kristyn Urgo. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Leslie Maurer. Inurnment will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL. There are no services planned at this time. Memorial contributions in her memory are suggested to the Illinois Veteran's Home Activities Fund.
