Died: Oct. 18, 2015; in McHenry, IL

Lorraine E. Major, age 94, born January 5, 1921, to Louis and Esther Sykora in Chicago, IL, died October 18, 2015, at Alden Terrace Nursing facility in McHenry, IL.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grand children playing cards and scrabble. Her favorite pastime was working crossword puzzles in newspapers and magazines. She was a huge Cub fan and rarely missed a televised game, but couldn't wait any longer for them to win another world series. Ron Santo was her hero.

She is survived by sons, Stephen Major (Arlene), Michael Major (Mary); daughter, Janice (Richard) Sawisch. Ten grand children, Jeff (Beth) Major, Dawn Kovac (Brian Zork), Peg (John) Grether, Steve (Anita) Major, Julie (Phil) Krepel, Rory Thomas (Paul Funk), Michael Major Jr. (Susan), Melanie (Jerry) Bechtold, Lucas and Joe Sawisch, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Stephen Martin Major and 2 sisters.

Final arrangements will be handled by Neptune Society and are private.

Memorials can be made to Alzheimers Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave. Fl, New York, NY 10001.
