Lonnie Lee Byrnside Sr., 74, of Champaign, died at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Champaign-Urbana Regional Rehab Center in Savoy IL.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM EDT, Friday, October 27th at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley 3941 Teays Valley Road Hurricane, WV 25526.
Lonnie was born on October 27, 1942 in Charleston, West Virginia, the son of James Earl and Amanda McKean Byrnside and grew up in Winfield WV. He married Nancy K. Enger.
Survivors include three children, Nicole Byrnside-Cajavilca (Saul) of Champaign IL, Lonnie Byrnside II (Kristine). of O'Fallon, IL and Erin Ware (Dan) of Plano IL; one brother, James Byrnside (Gloria) of Elmhurst IL; two sisters, Juanita K. Mallory (Ronald) and Beverly Lee (Leo) both of Hurricane, West Virginia; and six grandchildren, Jose Botello, Meris Cajavilca, Amanda Cajavilca, Max Cajavilca, Lonnie Byrnside III and Abigail Byrnside.
He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Gary Wayne Byrnside.
Lonnie was a security officer at the Lasalle County Nuclear Generating Station for 19 years. He loved fitness, sports, reading and politics.

A perfect big brother whom I loved and respected. He had strength, integrity, a great sense of humor and passion for his convictions. Most of all, he had a deep and unconditional love for his family. His love and pride in his children and grandchildren was evident to all who knew him or talked with him for any length of time. He was deeply loved and is greatly missed. RIP sweet brother.
