My condolences to the family. As a young soldier, stationed at Fort Ord California, I had the pleasure of meeting this historical figure. Lee would play in the Bing Crosby Pro-Am with my Uncle, Calvin Reaves, as his partner. To have the opportunity to meet this legend (along with Calvin Peete) meant a great deal to me. Keeping the family in prayer.

Condolences to his family. I met him in Newport RI at a golf tournament where I was a walking scorer In the 70’s, treated me with respect, quite a gentleman and his caddy Mel was a hoot. Have fun golfing in Heaven!

My sincere condolences to the Lee Elder's family. I remember in the later part of the 60's when he would play in the Old Dominion Classic at the Newport News golf course. His attire was always on point and he had that great smile. Thanks Mr. Elder for what you did for the game of golf and the Black community.

I remember reading about, and pulling for, Lee during the '74 Masters. It was at that time that I became a fan! Lee was a pioneering Ryder Cup calibre champion golfer, a model professional, and a noble gentleman. His admirable story of courage and success will always be a strong source of inspiration.
Rest in peace, Lee, and thank you.
