Lawrence Schaefer Obituary

Lawrence (Larry) Mark SCHAEFER Lawrence M. Schaefer, age 54, of Sisters, Oregon passed away on April 4, 2003. He was President and general manager of R. L. Schaefer Builders, Inc. and Crystal Development L.L.C. of Sisters, Oregon. Larry was a resident of Sisters for 20 years. He was born in Torrance, California February 8, 1949. His family moved to Washington in 1957. Larry completed school in Bellevue, Washington in 1967, served in the U.S. Navy, traveled in Europe, ran a stereo business with his lifelong friend Gary Roumm and then became a general contractor. He worked with his family in developing Winterwood Estates a large housing subdivision in Covington, Washington as well as building numerous houses in the surrounding area. He met Ruth Heinz in 1982 and they were married in 1983; moving to Sisters the same year. Larry was a member of Sisters Rodeo Association. He served on the Board of Directors of Sisters Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed sports, fishing and big toys. He loved people and philosopizing on life. Larry is survived by his wife Ruth; his father Walt and his wife Lisbet of Renton, Washington; his mother Rose Schaefer of Surprise, Arizona; brothers Maurice of Kent, Washington and John of Kirkland, Washington and sister Claire Marie Schaefer of Kirkland. Nephews, Joel E. Schaefer of Littleton, Colorado, Wesley W. Schaefer of Kirkland. Nieces, Michelle N. Schaefer and Angela M. Schaefer of Kent, Washington and Janice M. Schaefer of Kirkland. In lieu of flowers you may send donations to Sisters of Humanity at P.O. Box 238, Sisters, OR 97759. There will be a Gathering to Celebrate his Life at the Sisters rodeo grounds reception hall just east of Sisters city limits on highway 126 on April 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
