Larry Gene McCarty

Larry Gene McCarty, age 76 of Kinmundy, IL, passed away at his home at 4:10 pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2016.

Larry was born at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, IL, the son of the late Kenneth Eugene and the late Ida Katherine (Onyon) McCarty. He was united in marriage on February 3, 1962 at the Wilton Center Federated Church in Manhattan, IL to Judith K. Arnstrom who survives in Kinmundy.

He was a graduate of Peotone Community High School as well as Thornton Jr. College and was a member of both Highland Presbyterian Church in LaGrange Highlands, IL and Kinmundy United Methodist Church of Kinmundy, IL. He was a 50 year member of the Kinmundy Masonic Lodge and was a Past Commander of the Apollo Commandery No. 1 K.T. in Wheaton, IL. Larry was also a member of the Kinmundy Historical Society and the M.A.B.A.S. 10 Fire Investigation Team.

Larry ended a long career being a firefighter as a retired captain and E.M.T. of Western Springs Fire Department, IL and a retired Fire Inspector and Arson Investigator of Pleasant View Fire Protection District of La Grange, IL. He leaves to mourn his passing, wife Judith of Kinmundy; sons, Douglas Gene McCarty of Crystal Lake, IL and David Wayne (Cynthia) McCarty of LaGrange Park, IL; brothers, Dan Paul (Mary Jo) McCarty of Kingsport, TN, Kenneth Wayne (Brenda) McCarty of Kinmundy; brother-in-law, Alan (Kathleen) Arnstrom of Dandridge, TN; grandchildren, Rebecka Gene (Mitch) Hendickson of Kannapolis, NC, Dereck Douglas McCarty of Mooresville, NC, Jacob Gordon McCarty of La Grange Park, IL, Katherine Mae McCarty of La Grange Park, IL.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home in Kinmundy, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, June 17, 2016. Masonic services will be held at the end of the visitation at 7:45 pm, along with the tolling of bells by the fire protection department. A celebration of life will be held at Kinmundy Methodist Church on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11:00 am. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services.
