Kathryn McInerney Obituary

Kathryn Rozell McInerney
Born: June 18, 1953
Died: March 1, 2021
Our hearts are heavy as the world lost an incredible woman this year. Kathy McInerney was gracious and giving with a million-dollar laugh who loved to love people. She was always the best company and could be ready to celebrate on a moment's notice. She had a lively, positive attitude and you could count on her to offer a shoulder to cry on.
Kathryn Rozell McInerney was born on June 18th, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Thaddeus (Ted) and Donna (Rozell) Biedak. With her siblings, Priscilla and Louis, they grew up on South Komensky Ave on Chicago's south side. A few years after her little sister Kelly was born, the family moved to Countryside, IL. Kathy attended Lyons Township High School in LaGrange and graduated in 1971.
After high school, Kathy began an incredible journey as a career woman with an upbeat attitude and zest for life -- always improving and growing her skill set while pursuing new chapters.
She married the late Jerry McInerney, with whom she had two beautiful girls, Melissa and Emily. They lived in Valparaiso, IN for many years blending their Indiana and Illinois families by hosting many pool parties, full of music, laughter, food and wine.
After her daughters were school-aged, Kathy started a 25+ year career at Ernst & Young. She worked in Human Resources traveling from Valpo to Chicago daily -- and unless for the occasional snowstorm, she was always on time. Kathy was a gracious, kind and collaborative co-worker. Her professionalism and dedication to her work were only eclipsed by her generosity of spirit.
She loved to ride her bike and travel. She spent many years riding her bike across Iowa, with Team Gourmet -- where she was affectionately called Mac! Kathy had endurance like no other. She peddled her heart out, across the rolling hills of Iowa. As soon as she was done for the day, shed roll up sleeves and help her teammates with anything that needed doing.
Kathy always sought out opportunities to be a service to others. She volunteered at St. Francis as a wedding hostess, she cut the hair of the homeless, and various other community services.
Kathy was an avid gardener. She enjoyed planting flowers and vegetables each year with her Grandsons. She was early to rise and get her day started, she worked longer and harder than anyone we know! Kathy was a special person to all the little kids in her life. She always took time out of her day to play a game, give a bath, bake some cookies, and give plenty of kisses.
Most recently, Kathy was an inspiration to us all by pursuing a new career as she became a Real Estate agent. She truly enjoyed this new chapter of her life. Getting to meet people and help them at the same time was one of her best attributes.
Out of all her jobs and hobbies, she was most proud to be called Grammie by her three Grandsons, Maverick (5), Walker (3) and Ryker (1 1/2). She never missed a chance to be there for all the big and small moments. To Kathy, her family was everything. She has made a huge difference in the world and in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her.
Kathy passed away on March 1, 2021. She is survived by her mother, Donna, daughters, Melissa McInerney and Emily (Robert) Mielke, her 3 Grandsons, her sisters Priscilla (Wayne) Santi, Kelly (Phil) Herndon, brother, Louis Biedak and many nieces and nephews.
Her memorial service will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church (LaGrange IL) on June 18, 2021 at 10am. To attend mass please sign up using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409044DAAA72EA2F94-kathryn

My deepest sympathy to Kathy's family and friends. Kathy touched the lives of so many, including me. She hired me at Ernst & Young in the 90's and became not only a mentor to me, but a close friend and confidante. I learned so much from her on so many levels. She always put her daughters and family first while managing an impressive workload. She has had a profound impact on who I am today. It's difficult to imagine where I'd be without her influence in my life. I am beyond blessed to have her light in my life and will cherish her spirit always. My love and prayers to all Kathy's family and friends.

Laurie and I wish to extend our deepest sympathy to your family. Kathy and I are in many family movies together as very young kids. We have great memories of family vacations at the Valpo cottage back in the 1960's. Kathy will certainly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
