Died: July 13, 2014; in La Grange, IL

Kathryn A. "Kate" Davenport, long time 1st grade teacher in Naperville, IL, passed away peacefully July 13 in La Grange, IL. Born October 25, 1922, in Hinsdale IL to her loving parents Paul and Myrtle (nee Tudor) Abrams.

Cherished sister of the late Paul, widow of William B. (Bill) Davenport, mother of Jeffrey T. (Maggi Christianson) Carroll,Mary M. Carroll, Brian J. Carroll, David J. Carroll, Kathryn A. (Jerald) Jones,step-mother of David (Lisa) Davenport and Ann Summerday Davenport, grandmother of Samantha Carroll, Brendan Carroll, Sara Barnett, Bridget (Brent)Levy-Carroll, David Hartsfield, Philip Hartsfield, Megan (Christopher) Vernon, step-grandmother to Grant Davenport, Tara Davenport, Mary Summerday and Kathryn Summerday, and great-grandmother of six who knew her as their beloved "Nonnie".

A graduate of Lyons Township High School and the University of Iowa, Kate leaves a legacy of love for not only her family and many friends, but to all of her students.

A church service will be held Wednesday, July 16, at 2PM at First Congregational Church of Western Springs, 1106 Chestnut Street, Western Springs, IL.

In lieu of flowers, please make your donation to the Plymouth Place (La Grange Park)Health Center.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Oh, Dave, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. But how beautiful were these last cherished moments with her. It's wonderful for you to share this, because it's such a poignant picture of God's love and a family's love--a sad time, but also one of hope because of His promise to be reunited. My prayers for His peace and comfort go out to you and your family in these coming weeks and months.

There will be a second service on Friday, July 25th, 2 PM at Plymouth Place, 315 N LaGrange Road, LaGrange Park. Non was so special we will celebrate her life twice!
