Kathryn D. Brackett

Kathryn D. Brackett, 104, a long-time resident of Hinsdale, passed away peacefully at King-Bruwaert House the evening of November 4th.

She was the daughter of Clarence and Nola Dodds of Omaha, NE. Kathryn attended Tarkio College and later worked as Head Chemist for Harding Dairy in Omaha where she met Harold C. Brackett who became her beloved husband of 74 years.

Kathryn is survived by beloved members of her family: daughter, Sally B. Davenport of Scituate, MA; son, William D. Brackett and wife, Lucie of Reston, VA; and son, John R. Brackett, DDS and wife, Judy of Hinsdale, IL. Kathryn is also survived by her much loved grandchildren, William Davenport of Worcester, MA, Heather D. Jarnot of Scituate, MA, Robert Brackett of Omaha, NE, Adara Brackett of Reston, VA and Jerry Brackett of Willowbrook, IL; and her great eight grandchildren, William, Julia and Brian Davenport, Tom, Pete and Isabelle Jarnot, Evan and Eva Brackett.

A woman of quiet and firm faith, Kathryn was an active participant in church life, ending her days as a member of Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Clarendon Hills, IL. Kathryn was an active volunteer at Hinsdale Hospital for 45 years, and a member of DAR as well as an antique study group and a craft group. Kathryn relished the companionship of her many friends and neighbors and maintained her cheerful disposition and smile to the last of her days.

Burial service will be private. A memorial service was held Saturday, November 11th at Church of the Holy Nativity, 275 S. Richmond, Clarendon Hills, at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Kathryn Brackett Memorial Fund Church of the Holy Nativity, for distribution to the Heifer Project and other charitable organizations.
