Kathleen Pintozzi, age 98, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her Downers Grove home on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
She was born November 22, 1925 in Chicago to parents Anna and Frank Davis. Growing up in Chicago, Kathleen was one of thirteen children. Kathleen attended her schooling in Chicago and graduated from Austin High School, class of 1943. After school she joined the workforce, helping in the war effort. Going out with groups of friends to ballrooms and dancing after work led to her meeting her forever dance partner and love of her life, Francis "Frank" Pintozzi. They wed June 25, 1949 and resided in Chicago until 1952 when they moved to Western Springs. In 1958 they built their first and forever home in Downers Grove where they raised their loving family.
As Kathleen's kids grew up and completed their schooling, she began volunteering with the Senior Missions group at St. Mary of Gostyn Church. She also used her sewing talents to create bibs at home for a local factory and in 1975 joined the JC Penney's sales team. 2003 brought about her retirement where she was able to spend her time and love with her six children, twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Kathleen will be remembered most for her humbleness, her modesty, her genuine character and how she always wore a smile on her face and a listening ear. Everyone who met her truly loved her and will miss her. Kathleen is preceded in death by her cherished husband Frank, with whom she shared six loving children that they are survived by: Frances, twins Lawrence "Larry" and Lorraine "Lorrie", Alan, Howard "Howie", and Daniel. She adored her twelve grandchildren and was blessed to be a "Super Mema" of thirteen great grandchildren. She was a fond sister to Patricia "Patsy" (the late Robert) LaMantia and her eleven siblings that preceded her in death as well as her dear parents. She will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and the many friends she made through her wonderful 98 years of life.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 3:00PM to 8:00PM at Adams Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main Street, Downers Grove, IL 60515. Mass will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 10:00AM at St. Mary of Gostyn Church, 445 Prairie Avenue, Downers Grove, IL 60515. Brief chapel prayer will follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Adams Winterfield & Sullivan.
