Died: July 30, 2021
Katherine 'Kay' Mitchell, age 93, of Indian Head Park and formerly of Tampa, FL, passed away on July 30, 2021. Beloved wife of the late James H. Mitchell; loving mother of Donald R. (Boots) and James R. (Barbara); proud grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 1; dear sister of Bill (Kay); preceded in death by her other siblings: Marvis, Madge Dupree, Mamie McCullough, Thomas, Elbert, Herbert, Jr., Frances Waldrop, & Sue Sanders; also pre-deceased by loving parents Julius Herbert Sr. and Nannie (née Murray) Rickles; dear aunt and friend to many. Kay was born in Springville, AL on July 27, 1928. She and her husband Jim were stationed in many locations across the United States and overseas while he served in the Army. Eventually, they retired to Tampa, FL. After Jim's passing, Kay made her way back to Illinois to be closer to her children and grandchildren. While in Illinois, Kay was an avid bowler and active member at Brainard Avenue Baptist Church. She enjoyed all her time she spent with her kids and grandkids.
